A little about me...
I have lived in Pennsylvania most of my life. I left briefly to attend the University of Delaware for my undergraduate degree in Philosophy (Go Blue Hens!). After UD, I went on to pursue my Master of Speech Language Pathology at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. I have been at Goodnoe Elementary since September of 2009 and have loved every minute of it! When I'm not at Goodnoe, I love running through my neighborhood with my daughter and dog. I have recently become a Registered Yoga Teacher with a focus on inclusive practices for children of all abilities as well as a certified Social Emotional Learning Facilitator through the Breathe for Change program. I am excited to incorporate these practices into our Speech and Language Program at Goodnoe. I also believe in being a life-long learner and modeling this for all of my students. I have been very proud of myself for receiving 10 Awards for Continuing Education since 2009. The ACE is awarded to an SLP who completes 70 hours of continuing education in the field of speech pathology within a 3 year period. I have earned SIX ACEs since 2022, meaning I completed over 420 hours of continuing education in that time!
What I do...
I am passionate about working with students to help them achieve their goals through improving their speech and language skills. I embrace and advocate for neurodiversity-affirming, culturally responsive, and evidence-based practices. I have worked with a variety of speech and language disorders including autism, apraxia, speech sound disorders, stuttering, language disorders, challengings in executive functioning and much more. I have done extensive continuing education in supporting executive function skill development, language intervention for children who are gestalt language processors, and a variety of intervention methods for speech sound disorders. I enjoy collaboration with families, outside providers, and our school-based teams. I also believe that the students I serve have an important role in helping to choose what communication skills are important to them and how we will work together to meet their goals. I believe that child-led, literacy-based therapy rooted in good evidence=based practices provide the best outcomes for my students.
