Meet Mrs Murray

Who is Mrs. Murray?

As we get to know each other, the first thing you'll probably learn about me is that I’m a mom! You will hear me talk a lot about my two girls, Katie and Meghan. Meghan is starting high school this year and Katie just left for her first year in college!  Being a mom helps me understand things like too much homework, rushing around to sports and activities, and keeping up with the latest social media/dance trends!

We spent most of our time relaxing at home this summer, but had some fun outdoor adventures like hiking, paddleboarding and kayaking, and we also had some great beach days. We have two crazy dog named Wilson and Charley.  You’ll find out that I’m an animal lover…  we also have a "stray" cat that sort of lives with us!

I’m always excited about starting a new school year and I'm hopeful that this year will be our best one yet! Before I came to Goodnoe, I taught 8th grade English at Holland Middle School, 7th grade Reading at Newtown Middle School, and 6th grade at Richboro Elementary. I absolutely loved my time teaching the upper grades and my students were incredible, but my years teaching 5th grade at Goodnoe have been my best years as a teacher!  This will be my 8th year at Goodnoe.

I wasn't always a teacher - I worked in sports medicine and physical therapy for 12 years after college. When Katie went off to kindergarten, I realized just how much I wanted to be in the classroom, and so I left my job and went back to school!   I have my Master’s Degree in Education, and I’m certified to teach 4th-8th grade.  I have an English certification for middle school as well, since I love to read and write.

Finally, you should know that I love being a teacher because I love being with kids and watching them grow - in learning and in life!  I hope to have lots of fun and create some wonderful and exciting learning experiences with you!  I will do my best every day to make learning fun and to make 5th grade a year to remember!
